Why the Cambridge Curriculum?

The Cambridge Curriculum

The Cambridge Curriculum creates intelligent, inspired learners prepared for global opportunities.

The Cambridge International Curriculum is the global standard for education internationally recognised by universities and employers. The curriculum remains flexible and cross-cultural while challenging and inspiring students in its unique approach. Cambridge students develop an informed curiosity and a lasting passion for learning while gaining essential skills for university success and future work aspirations.

What does international mean?

According to Cambridge University international means:

  • Over 10,500 schools in over 165 countries follow the Cambridge curriculum
  • The curriculum is international in philosophy and approach and tailored to local contexts
  • Cambridge students can continue their studies using the same curriculum in any one of the 165 countries

Five Stages of the Cambridge Curriculum

The five stages of the Cambridge Curriculum Pathway lead seamlessly and intelligently from primary to secondary and pre-university years. Each stage builds on the learners’ development from the previous one, with the option to be offered individually.

Similarly, each syllabus adopts a ‘spiral’ approach, building on previous learning to help students advance their studies. The Cambridge Curriculum reflects the latest thinking from expert international research and school consultation.

Cambridge Pathway

Knowledge, understanding and higher-order thinking skills

The Cambridge Curriculum programmes emphasise mastering subjects fully while developing study and future work skills. Deep subject knowledge and conceptual understanding assist students in making links between different aspects of a subject. The curriculum encourages students to develop higher-order thinking skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, independent research, collaboration, and presenting arguments.

Cambridge Global Perspectives

Global Perspectives is a unique, transformational programme that helps students at every stage develop outstanding transferable skills.

Choice and flexibility for schools and students

The Cambridge Curriculum is customised for the culture and ethos of the country where it is taught. There are 70 subjects on offer at Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge O Level and over 55 at Cambridge International AS & A Level. This vast selection allows Cambridge schools to build a curriculum offering a choice of subjects and subject combinations.
